SONG COMPETITION HISTORY
Creation: 1984. Frequency: triennial. The Jacinto & Inocencio Guerrero Foundation has been holding its biennial International Singing Competition ever since 1984. One year later, the H.R.H. Princess Cristina International Guitar Competition was created, followed by the Guerrero Foundation International Piano Competition in 1987. All three are geared to spurring the career of young performing artists. Over the course of time the Singing Competition has, not only seen the prize money increase by a substantial amount, but, since 2000, it has also included a final round with orchestral accompaniment undertaken in collaboration with the Zarzuela Theatre in Madrid and the Comunidad de Madrid Orchestra. That same year, the Competition took the name of Acisclo Fernández Carriedo, distinguished Chief Justice and passionate music lover, who held the post of chairman of the Foundation for fourteen years. Similarly, the number of concerts and performances at different theatres offered to the prizewinners has been expanded. Past Prizewinners
