Xiaofeng Wu (China) Wins the Guerrero Foundation International Piano Competition. .
XIAOFENG WU obtained First Prize in the 10th Guerrero Foundation International Piano Competition, consisting of 15,000 Euros, a studio recording with the Radio Clásica service of Spain’s national radio station, Radio Nacional de España -with presentation of a promotional CD- plus a recording for Televisión Española.
2005 until the present. This young pianist studied at the University of Michigan School of Music, United States. Degree: DMA 2002-2004. Texas Christian University School of Music, United States. Degree: MM 1998-2002. Piano Department, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Shanghai, China. Degree: BM 1991-1998. Nanjing School of Arts, Associated Middle School Centre, Jiangsu, China, Principal teachers: Arthur Greene; Chen, Hung-kuan; Tamas Ungar; Sheng, Yi-qi; Lin, Er-yao. The Second Prize of 6,000 Euros was awarded to YUKIKO AKAGI (Japan) The Third Prize, worth 3,000 Euros went to FERNANDO CRUZ ROBLEDILLO (Spain) The Premio del público (audience's choice), endowed with a concert appearance with the Radiotelevisión Española Symphony Orchestra, was awarded to FERNANDO CRUZ ROBLEDILLO The Prize for the best interpretation of Spanish music went unawarded. The prizewinners of the most recent Guerrero Foundation Music Competitions are continuing their concert tours, with appearances at venues both locally and abroad.
[ + info. ] The 17th H.R.H. Princess Cristina International Guitar Competition is being held from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th October 2007 in the town of Ajofrín (Toledo).
On coinciding with the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Guerrero Foundation, this edition of the competition has been moved from Madrid, the venue where it has traditionally been held, to the birthplace of the composer Jacinto Guerrero.
The contest includes three elimination rounds which, as is customary with competitions sponsored by the Guerrero Foundation, lay stress on the need for Spanish music to be present at each stage. The Guerrero Foundation on Radio Clásica
The April issue of the monthly programme and news magazine published by the Radio Clásica service of Spain’s national radio station (Radio Nacional de España - RNE) includes a full feature on the Guerrero Foundation and its activities.

The digital terrestrial television channel, Veo TV, is currently broadcasting “The Guerrero Foundation Concerts” (Los conciertos de la Fundación Guerrero), a series of nine programmes devoted to the performances of some of the finalists who took part in the various editions of the guitar and piano competitions, all recorded in the Great Hall of the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music (Real Conservatorio Superior de Música).
Madrid’s historical theatres
The journalist, Antonio Castro Jiménez, has brought out Teatros históricos de Madrid (Madrid’s historical theatres), a book in which a fairly lengthy chapter is devoted to the Coliseum, with information about its architecture and history, along with a detailed list of the works premiered there. This edition has been published under the auspices of the Madrid City Council.
10th Jacinto Guerrero Foundation International Piano Competition
The pianists Fernando Cruz Robledillo (Spain), Xiaofeng Wu (China) and Yukiko Akagi (Japan) have passed through to the FINAL ROUND of the 10th JACINTO GUERRERO FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION , which is to be held at 7:30 p.m. on 23rd June 2006 at the Teatro Monumental (Atocha, 65).

Friday 16th June will see the start of the tenth edition of the Guerrero Foundation International Piano Competition, sponsored by the Jacinto & Inocencio Guerrero Foundation.
The competition will be held in two phases: from 16th-18th June, the initial elimination rounds will take place in the Concert Hall at the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music (Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid); and on 23rd June, the final round will be held at the Teatro Monumental, with the collaboration of the Radiotelevisión Española Symphony Orchestra. At 9 a.m. on 16th June, before the opening rounds commence, the Jury will be formally presented at the Madrid Conservatory, and the draw will then be held to determine the performing order in which contestants will play throughout the competition. María Elena García Rivera wins the Jacinto & Inocencio Guerrero Foundation's 11th Acisclo Fernández Carriedo International Singing Competition.

Alen Garagic, from Bosnia-Herzegovina, obtained the first prize in the 16th H.R.H. Princess Cristina International Guitar Competition held by the Jacinto & Inocencio Guerrero Foundation. The award comprises a cash prize of €10,000, a Contreras guitar valued at €9,450, a studio recording sponsored by the Radio Clásica service of Spain’s national radio station (Radio Nacional de España) plus a promotional CD, concert appearances and a diploma.

On 22 March 2004, the composer, Luis de Pablo, will be awarded the Guerrero Foundation Music Prize. The ceremony is set to take place at the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid at 12:30 p.m. Attendance will be by invitation only. Carrying a tax-free money prize of €72,000.00, the award is considered to be the most important in Spain in the musical area of the arts.Guerrero Foundation Competition Prizewinners continue their international tours.
Prizewinners in the respective musical interpretation competitions held by the Jacinto & Inocencio Guerrero Foundation continue their concert tours, with appearances at the different venues around Spain and the rest of Europe.[ + Info ] Publication of the first two volumes of "Romanzas y canciones" by Jacinto Guerrero.
The Jacinto & Inocencio Guerrero Foundation, working in collaboration with the publishing house of Tritó, has issued two volumes of Jacinto Guerrero's Romanzas y canciones (arias and songs) for soprano. The edition, under the overall supervision of Ramón Regidor, Professor of Singing Technique at the Madrid Senior School of Voice and Song, includes a series of fragments for voice and piano taken from zarzuelas (Spanish operettas) and revues, plus a number of songs. In each case, information is included about the original work, along with the lyrics in Spanish and English. The complete collection will be made up of a eight volumes devoted to all the different vocal ranges.

Since June 2003, the publishers, Tritó, have taken over the music-leasing management of Jacinto Guerrero's La rosa del azafrán (The Saffron Rose). The score of this new edition, overseen by orchestral conductor, Miguel Roa, is soon to be published.
